Are You an Ideal Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?

All patients who experience dental-related anxiety may benefit from our personalized approach to sedation. If you have any of the following fears or concerns, please talk to our team about our sedation dentistry options:

  • Are you afraid of needles?
  • Have you experienced a traumatic dental procedure in the past?
  • Do you have any discomfort associated with odors or sounds at a dentist’s office?
  • Do you have a very sensitive mouth or gag reflex?
  • Are you able to feel procedures even with numbing medications?
  • Do you need a complex procedure such as a root canal or tooth removal?
  • Do you feel insecure about your teeth?
  • Do you desire a more comfortable dental treatment?

Personalized Sedation Options

Sedation dentistry is foundational to ensuring a relaxed patient experience. We work together with each patient to determine the sedation option best suited for the treatment and desires of the patient. We offer the following sedation options for a safe, relaxing, and comfort-driven treatment experience.

Nitrous Oxide

You may have heard of Nitrous Oxide as “laughing gas.” It’s a conscious sedation method that allows patients to reduce pain while still being awake and relaxed for a procedure.

Despite the name, not all patients end up in a laughing mess when using “laughing gas.” This form of sedation is inhaled through a mask, producing a state of relaxation throughout the procedure.

While your dentist asks you to breathe slowly, a mask is gently placed over your nose and mouth. The patient drifts off to a peaceful sleep in a few short moments. This simple sedation method offers the least amount of risk, and any possible side effects vanish once the mask comes off.

Laughing gas can be used for more minor procedures up to complex ones. It all depends on your comfort.

IV Sedation

An IV line for sleep dentistry is gently inserted into a vein in your arm. This line delivers a steady flow of medication to keep you sleeping like a baby throughout the procedure.

You will wear an oxygen mask to ensure proper breathing, and we will closely monitor your vital signs as you sleep. This more advanced form of full sedation allows the patient to be at ease throughout the entire process.

Oral Sedation

If you’re worried about the other two options of sedation, we also offer sedation in the form of a pill. We will provide this prescription pill to make you feel tired and relaxed. Make sure you have a designated driver to get you home after the procedure, as its effects can be lasting.

Is Sedation Dentistry Safe?

Administered by trained professionals in our pain-free and calming LoFi dentistry clinic, sedation has been proven to be safe and effective. Without sedation, we know nerves can get the best of you. That’s why we offer a calming environment, unlike other dentistry offices across the country.

We want to ensure stable blood pressure and heart rate levels and take away any doubt about further dentistry procedures. Think of sedation as your “chill pill,” which will calm you down and allow the dentist and their team to begin the process.

If that doesn’t help, know that you’ll be in a modern environment with a team of staff dedicated to providing you with top-of-the-line tools and technology you won’t find anywhere else.

How Long Until Sedation Wears Off?

Recovery time from your procedures depends on the sedation method and the patient. Since you may feel a little lightheaded and funny when you leave our office, we highly recommend you arrange transportation to and from the location.

Word of advice: While you feel the effects of sedation, DO NOT drink alcohol, drive, or operate any machinery. You should refrain from these activities for about 8 hours after the procedure.
